Kostas Chatzichristos is the Director of Performance at the the Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahรงe Beko Istanbul, overseeing player athletic development, rehabilitation, and medical staff coordination. Since joining the club, he has played a pivotal role in the team’s success, contributing to one Turkish Championship, two Turkish Cups, and two EuroLeague Final Four appearances. His expertise and commitment were instrumental in Fenerbahรงeโs triumphant 2025 EuroLeague title win in Abu Dhabi, solidifying the team’s status at the pinnacle of European basketball.
An thirteen-year Euroleauge veteran, Kostas has held the same role at CSKA Moscow for eight years. During his tenure at the most historic Russian basketball club, he won two European Championships, seven VTB League Championships and seven Russian cups. He has also participated in six Euroleague Final Fours.
He started his career in the USA as the head basketball strength and conditioning coach at the University of Georgie Menโs Basketball, before moving to Europe, were he held similar positions in elite basketball teams, namely Panionios BC and Olympiacos BC.
Currently, Kostas is also the Head of Performance in the Menโs Basketball Greek National Team, being responsible for the teamโs preparation for the major summer competitions.
Kostas is also a co-founder at Performance22Lab, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation and performance center โ located in his hometown Athens, Greece โ where he has been training athletes of all levels, ages and different sports. He is mostly known for his ongoing work with professional basketball players, as he has worked with some of the best male and female basketball players of this generation helping them perform at their best or/and rehabilitate from injuries.
As a co-founder and Director of the Euroleauge Strength & Conditioning Coachesโ Association (ESCCA), he has led the fledgling Association into organization of growing impact in the basketball strength and conditioning community. The ESCCAโs annual Summit has been established as one of the major educational events in Europe, attracting world-class speakers, attendees and companies from around the world.A frequent speaker at international and national educational events, Kostas has also authored numerous articles in fitness publications, has produced educational products for coaches and has consulted sports federations and select teams on player athletic development.
Kostas is currently working towards earning PhDย from Democritus University of Thrace, holds a masterโs degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition from the University of Texas and a bachelorโs degree in Sports Science from the University of Athens.
